Relationship with Columbia

Columbia Business School faculty and staff have provided critical guidance and support to Microlumbia since its inception in 2007.

Professors Ray Fisman, Ray Horton, and Suresh Sundaresan have played invaluable roles in the organization, as has Sandra Navalli, staff associate of the Social Enterprise Program and associate director of the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Center for Leadership and Ethics.

Going-forward, the Social Enterprise Program will fund the transportation of Microlumbia students traveling around the world as part of due diligence or consulting projects. The Social Enterprise Program is also considering starting two microfinance courses: Credit Markets for the Poor and Consulting for Microfinance Institutions.

Microlumbia was also accepted to the Columbia Business School Entrepreneurial Greenhouse program, which is managed by Professor Cliff Schorer.
